The People of Liverpool’s Favorite Restaurant

The U.K’s first Catalonian restaurant and deli has won its second award, after opening just this past March.  Lunya, located on College Lane in Liverpool One, was named “The People of Liverpool’s Favorite Restaurant” in September at the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival Awards, and a panel of independent judges has now voted Lunya to be Liverpool’s Best Restaurant.  The award was presented at an impressive ceremony in the Midland Hotel in Manchester.

Peter Kinsella, owner and Executive Chef, said that he and his team are very pleased with the award from some of the most esteemed food critics in the northwest.  Those included the editor of Lancashire Life, Roger Borrell and food and drink writer Ray King, amongst others.  Mr. Kinsella noted that his restaurant is devoted to authentic ingredients, but has added a “local twist” to some of the Spanish classics.

The fare is inspired by the cuisine of Catalunya in northeast Spain.  Many of the ingredients are imported from artisan producers in that region, as well as from selected producers in northwest England.  The menu includes a wide range of tapas and a la carte dishes, presented with outstanding service and a truly welcoming atmosphere.
