Leading British chefs which include Simon Hulstone, Michael Caines MBE, Sam moody and Paul Ainsworth have joined forces to launch an eBook edition of the prestigious dining guide for the South West; the ‘Trencherman’s Guide’. This guide enables foodies to fine the very best restaurants, including those attached to hotel where rooms are available, while they are on the move.
This annual guide first appeared 19 year ago, and is considered to be the Holy Grail for any foodie who is seeking to experience the top dining establishments within the region. The ‘Trencherman’s guide’ only includes those eateries that have consistently scored highly in other top publications such as the AA Restaurant Guide, The Good Food Guide and the one they all want to be in, The Michelin Guide.
Whether you are visiting Gloucester, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall or Dorset, you will be able to choose from which of the elite selection of 101 establishments at which you can indulge yourself. Those guests who attended the ‘Trencherman’s Guide Autumn Lunch’ on Monday at the Priory Hotel in Bath were treat to a scrumptious seven course meal create by the acclaimed chefs before the 2011/12 eBook guide for the Amazon Kindle was revealed.
This is the first time that the guide has been available in any other form than the printed version, which was only available from the establishments included in the guide. The actual 2011/12 printed Guide and the new website was launched back in March by Nathan Outlaw, Michael Caines MBE and Rick Stein.
Instead of looking through pages, this new eBook has been designed to help aficianados of food and drink navigate their way around the finest restaurants and hotels in the region from their Smartphone, iPad or Kindle, thanks to the cross platform technology from Amazon. Michael Caines MBE spoke about the eBook and said that by increasing accessibility beyond the written word would further highlight the extent of the exceptional dining available in the South West, and that the eBook was an inspired move forward.
Introducing the guide this year, acclaimed food critic Zoe Williams urges foodies to see the Guide as a “…trusty satnav: utterly accurate and bang up to date. And of course, it has the added advantage of being mouthwateringly evocative on every page.”
A new concept developed with Michelin starred chef Michael Caines is the Rising Stars sections. These contain businesses not yet represented in guides such as The Good Food Guide but are worthy of inclusion in the Trencherman’s Guide, based on their excellent offering for foodies.
Although the printed Trencherman’s Guides are available from featured restaurants and hotels with the eBook helping anyone holidaying in the region to plan their indulgence and hotel stays in advance. The eBook can be downloaded at the Amazon Kindle Store, priced at £5.69 (http://tinyurl.com/453jp5m). For more information visit www.trenchermans-guide.com
