Despite the current economic climate, the people of the Midlands have clearly indicated that they are as determined as ever to get their desserts, and have made The Birmingham Pudding and Dessert Club a resounding success. Launched by the city’s locally based banqueting and event caterers Redcliffe, each even has a waiting list, and the latest, to be held in the splendid Botanical Gardens, is no exception.
Colin Cook, the director of Redcliffe, has said that they have all been staggered by the success of the Birmingham Pudding and Dessert Club, particularly at a time when eating out was going out of fashion due to the current climate. He said he disagreed with this way of thinking, and that when in a recession; people needed an affordable treat that would cheer them up without costing a fortune.
He added that their events offered pure unadulterated indulgence in the form of mouth-watering desserts, accompanied by a classy dessert wine, and following a delicious main course.
The dessert selection is different for each event and really gives our chefs the opportunity to experiment.

There is a lot of fun and enjoyment involved – and at the end of the evening, we ask our diners to vote for the best desserts and to suggest new alternatives for the next event.”
The Birmingham Pudding and Dessert Club began in 2009 and has attracted hundreds of diners more than happy to pay £24-95 for a light main course, a selection of up to 10 hand-crafted desserts and accompanying wines. Each event is normally sold out in advance. The next event takes place on Thursday 15th September.
