This year’s Alnwick Food Festival will have sweet treats at its core and those with a sweet tooth will have the opportunity to taste a dessert specially created for the event by none other than French master chef Jean Christophe Novelli. The unique crepe will be on sale at the Alnwick Food Festival, and can be purchased from the Élan Creperie van. The festival runs form Friday to Sunday 23-25 September.
The dessert will taste of summer fruits and Alnwick rum, and is being made entirely from local produce, a trademark of Élan, whilst also incorporating the traditional French Creperie. Head chef and managing director of Élan, Peter Reay, has said that their appearance at Alnwick Food Festival is one of the highlights of the year for the company and bringing their vintage Citroen H van along was going to be an absolute pleasure.
He added that they were extremely honoured to be included in the line up for the 2011 festival and are relishing the opportunity to share their creperie delights with both the Alnwick townsfolk and the thousands of visitors that are expected at the festival. They were also delighted to have been given the chance to work alongside the great Jean Christophe Novelli and that it was a fitting combination of what the two factions were most famous for.
.The director of the food festival, Karen Larkin, has said that it is very exciting to have the unique little Élan van as part of this year’s festival. She has seen it in action previously and tasted their delicious produce. She said that organisers of events such as this always had a headache trying to come up with something new and different that wouldn’t clash with what was being offered for sale by the traders in the town.
