The city of Durham prepares for this years food festival

The Durham City Food Festival is going to be taking place on the 27th and 28th of October, and this is the second year that the event has occurred. This is an event which focuses on food and drink from the local area, and it is being run in 2012, after a very successful year in 2011. The event takes place in the city’s peninsular, and this is a particularly wonderful location for a food festival to take place.

The festival is not just limited to food however and there is also going to be an arts and crafts section which is going to include ideas for gift giving, with many of the items here coming from the local area. One of the most notable guests at the event is going to be the chef Jean Christophe Novelli, who is going to be leading demonstrations in meeting guests in the main food tent on both days at the event.

Masterclass demonstrations are going to be taking place in the tents which are going to be conducted by some of the region’s most notable chefs. Visitors are going to be able to attend the event from 10 AM every day, to its closing time at 4:30 PM.

Part of the event is going to be in association with the Durham Book Festival, which is going to feature several book signings by celebrities as well as notable cookery demonstrations. At the Market Place, a special continental market is going to be held, where various stalls will be showing off food from a little further afield. There is also going to be children’s entertainment at the event so parents will be able to go around and taste food without having to worry about their children being bored. Overall, this is sure to be a successful event, just as it was last year.
