Foodies are going to be able to sample some wonderful nationally and locally produced foods at the Ringmead, Birch Hill arts centre during the first food festival at South Hill Park. The event is free for anyone that is interested in trying out the many different drink and food producers near Berkshire and throughout the UK.
A few of the stallholders that have already confirmed their appearance at the food fest include Cakeypig the designer cake company, Delights of Tuscany with Italian food, and Fancy Fruit which is based out of Wokingham. Also traveling a bit farther to be at the event are Med Foods from Middlesex, the Isle of Wight Garlic Farm, and the Oxford Cheese Company.
The festival is scheduled to take place on June 8th and June 9th. Organiser of the event, Kate Lole, stated that a great deal of the stallholders produce their own foods so they have a great deal of knowledge about their own products and the production process. She added that most will be happy to offer advice and samples to those who are considering buying some food or drink making it a fun family event for everyone in attendance.
Outside of food stalls, the food festival will also include a bouncy slide and castle for children to play on and even Gerry the Giraffe will make an appearance. The organizers are also working hard to put together a set of demonstrations that guests can observe including one on cake-decorating, one on pasta-making, and one on bread-making.
Chief executive of South Hill Park, Ron McAllister, stated that due to the high response they received from stall holders they decided to make the event free so that families can bring their children and enjoy some locally produced delicious foods.
