Having beaten off competition from across the country the best butcher award has been given to a Scottish man based in Aberdeenshire. His butchers is called Davidson Specialist Butchers and it has proved itself the best butcher shop at an award ceremony that took place in London.
John Davidson is the owner of the butchers shop and he said, “Ever since I started my butchers shop this has been the dream, this is truly one of the highlights of my life. Not only is this a great honour but it will also mean that new customers will be drawn to my shop. We have recently started delivering to people in the local area and so hopefully this will be a great boost to business.”
The awards are organised by MTJ and Ed Beddington is the editor who has commented, “John Davidson is operating a fantastic business and it is great to see him being honoured in this way.
The competition is always fierce and this year particularly so, I would like to offer my congratulations to Mr Davidson but also the other finalists who have exceptional shops. Mr Davidson has truly proved himself to be an exceptional butcher and someone who is willing to go above and beyond the normal requirements of the industry.”
The Young Butcher of the Year award was given to Andrew Brassington who has commented, “I hope my receipt of this award will encourage more young people to become butchers, it is an innovative industry and it is always good to see young people getting involved in it.”
Patrick O’Doherty took the award for Innovation of the Year, and he has created a beef product using ancient recipes to create premium corned beef which has proved itself very popular. The lifetime achievement award was given to John Taylor and Mr Beddington commented, “Mr Taylor has contributed a huge amount to the industry and it is a real pleasure to be able to honour him in this way. He has had a long and fruitful career and has passed on a great deal of his expertise to others.”
