Portsmouth Festival of Food hailed as a great success

The Portsmouth Festival of Food was held last Saturday at Cosham and saw a huge number of stalls assemble themselves where visitors were able to try a great deal of locally produced foods and buy them to take home. It wasn’t all buying and selling however and the popular Community Chef, Robin van Creveld Elder was showing people how to cook very healthy food.

He commented, “We understand that health is a very important part of life and along with exercise, food is one of the most important elements. At this event we showed people how to create a diet that helps them become better sports people and a healthier individuals.”

The district coordinator for the area is Colin Walker and he was at the event handing out smoothies to people created from bananas and strawberries. Mr Walker commented, “We are very pleased with the event and the turnout that we had. It was also great to see that the weather held for us and we fully expect to continue with this event in the years to come.”

A councillor from Cosham, Aiden Gray has said, “I attended the event with my family and it was a wonderful occasion. It was great to see the chef promoting healthy eating and healthy food and informing us how to cook it. It was a really refreshing alternative weekend activity and I look forward to it re-occurring in years to come.” Other events with the Community Chef are going to be taking place throughout July.
