Pierre Koffmann to appear at food festival in Abergavenny

The Abergavenny Food Festival is going to see a very notable guest this year in the form of Pierre Koffmann, best known for being the mentor of the famous television chef Gordon Ramsay. Mr Koffmann has had a very distinguished culinary career and during his time creating food he has, on three different occasions, won Michelin stars.

At the event is going to be talking with Matthew Fort about the culinary crusade that he has been conducting. You can get an idea of how talented he is as a chef when you consider that Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White idolise him regularly.

In 1990 he wrote a very famous cookery book called Memories of Gascony and this book is going to be relaunched shortly and it is thought that his presence at the food Festival is going to be part of the promotion for this. In recent years his work has also been praised by such notable people as Tom Parker Bowles and Heston Blumenthal.

Mr Ramsay has commented, “There is no doubt that Mr Koffmann is a very grumpy man when he is in the kitchen, but there is also no doubt about his genius and I’m incredibly lucky to have been able to work under him. His culinary flair has really shaped the restaurant scene in the country quite unlike any other person.”

Unlike some other celebrity chefs, such as Mr Ramsay, Pierre Koffmann has shied away from the celebrity limelight. It is not often that he is interviewed in public and for this reason many people will be excited about is unusual appearance.

At the event there are going to be many copies of his classic book given away as part of a promotion and if you want a chance of winning one of these books you can visit the festival’s website and enter by buying tickets to the event.

As well as all the celebrity presence, this food Festival is a great opportunity to see some of the up and coming chefs in the country. Not only will you be able to see them in action, but you’ll be able to taste some of their incredible creations. This festival is really a celebration of the craft of cooking and for anyone who enjoys their food it is an event that really shouldn’t be missed out on.
