New northern food and drink festival to take place in Sunderland in July

Food lovers will be overwhelmed with food options when the northern flavours of the UK cuisine meet together at the first ever Delicious North East Food and Drink Festival that will be held at the Sunderland Nissan plant during the weekend of July 14th and 15th.

Also on hand to help add to the flare of the event will be Stefan Gates of the Gastronaut live show who will be performing during both days of the festival. He is not the only chef expected to show up as Sachins’ Bob Arora, Rackcliffe Hall’s Kenny Atkinson, and Castle Eden Inn’s Dave Coulson are also expected to be on hand.

Those who enjoy the sampling part of a festival to be more enjoyable than watching food demonstrations will find plenty of such opportunities with three pop up restaurants set up featuring some great eats. These include Punjabi food from the Newcastle Sachins, Italian cuisine from Amore of Sunderland, and some great barbeque food from Liberty Brown.

Scattered throughout the festival will also be many food and drink stalls that offer different tastes for the palate including some great Real Ale and Cider due to a partnership with CAMRA. All demonstrations during the festival will take place in the Delicious theatre kitchen under the watchful eyes of host Mark Earnden who is the brains behind the Food Education Company.

Owner of the pop-up restaurant Amore, Kam Chera, is looking forward to the festival which she believes will help to bring some new talent to the North East and help show off the culinary skill that already exists in the Northeast region. Tickets for the Delicious Festival will be £7 for adults on the day of the event or £5 if purchased online in advance. Children that are under the age of 16 are free.
