The Leicester and Leicestershire food fortnight runs from late September to early October, and Melton are sure to be at the forefront of this incredible food event. This Festival is a celebration of food from the local area and one of the most notable events that is going to be taking place during it is the Pie Fest.
The idea behind the presence of Melton at the Festival is to promote its pies. There are going to be various demonstrations of the pies at the event as well as the opportunity for people to taste them. It is hoped that the event will help boost the local economy of Melton, and bring more people to try their very famous pies.
The event is going to allow people to taste some of the finest pork pies from the country during the weekend. These are going to be complimented by many other foods and drinks which are being displayed at the event including locally brewed beer. The Festival has been created to have something of a party atmosphere, which is going to make it much more than a food tasting event and should make it great fun for the whole family.
Jo Pratt has recently written a book about cooking, and she is going to be at the event demonstrating some of the recipes which are included in this book. She is also going to be hosting a talk about her career, which has seen her work with such notable chefs as Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver and Gary Rhodes. Overall, this event is going to be a great experience for anyone, whether they are particularly enthusiastic about food, or not.
