On August 12 -14 at Holyrood Park and celebrating the best in food, culinary talents and drink, the Foodies Festival will be celebrating its fifth anniversary. Having started five years ago in Edinburgh and with unprecedented success the Foodies Festival now is enjoyed across the UK with this summer hosting seven festivals. There will be many new features that can be enjoyed this year as well as the favourites that have been established.
In Chefs Theatre top chefs and the regions Michelin star greats will put together their signature plates live while passing along tips and hints. The lineup for Chefs Theatre includes Plumed Horse’s Tony Borthwick, Harvey Nichols, Stuart Muir, Café St Honroe and many others.
Fringe players like The Hamiltons and Four Poofs, Time Vine and a Piano will mix cooking with comedy on stage with the top chefs. Acts will perform live from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival giving attendees a taste of the best comedy, dance and music.
Pop Up schools of cooking where visitors will be encouraged to perform hands on cooking and there will be tasting sessions with help from food experts and top chefs, and master classes for young chefs along with their families in Cooking with Kids.
Master class drinks theatre will have shaking and mixing, tasting and nosing session where the visitors get helped through the different complexities of rum, gin, wine, specialty beer and cocktails.
Local and Specialty exhibitors will offer visitors exclusive ingredients from more than 100 drink and food producers. The Great Taste Market will have stallholders with their products that have won Great Taste Awards, the prestigious award, in the past three years.
In the restaurant village visitors can enjoy plates from all over the world. The Bar Pagoda tents are where a taste of bubbly or a cocktail from the season will be offered by mixologists.
