Food celebration in Shropshire

A social evening that was arranged by the students of Harper Adams was a celebration of local Shropshire food. About fifty students and staff from the food related courses attended the event that was held on campus in the Regional Food Academy exhibition hall. It was arranged by three students who are in their second year of the Bsc(honours) food nutrition and well being degree; Emily Goring, April Graham and Anna Bird.

19 year old Anna, who hails from Malvern in Worcestershire said that they had chosen local food as the theme to raise the profile of Harpers amongst local companies and to also promote their Regional Food Academy. She added that produce had been supplied by Gregory’s Soup Ltd, the Greenfield Farm Shop in Drayton, Buttercross Farm in Market Drayton and Mr Moyden’s Cheese from Newport.

A luxury hamper was the prize for whoever guessed the total food miles of the produce that was inside. This has been supplied by the Greenfield Farm Shop. The students had decorated the exhibition space with colourful balloons and bunting. Anna also said that is event was part of an assignment for the Integrated Marketing Communications module, and that everyone had enjoyed it and they had received great feedback from students and staff.
