Durham food festival returns for 8th year

A popular food festival is going to be returning next month and it is expected that around 30,000 people are going to attend the event. The event, which is called the Bishop Auckland Food Festival, is this year going to see more stalls than ever before and they are all going to feature some of the best food in the country. One of the most anticipated stalls at the event is going to be from the Fabulous Baker Brothers, who have been recently appearing on television.

This is the eighth year that the festival is taking place and it is being hosted at the Auckland Castle. The event is going to see six prizewinners of the Taste Durham scheme which has been established to promote food in the local area.

There are going to be several restaurants at the event as well as farm shops selling meat, afternoon tea and ale. One of the most notable restaurants to attend the event is Oldfield’s restaurant which is located in Durham itself. The owner of the restaurant Mr Oldfield has commented, “We think that people visiting the area are increasingly interested in the food they can find here and that’s why we think it’s essential we play a part of this event.”

The Channel 4 television show, the Fabulous Baker Brothers, has been encouraging people to prepare their own food. At the event they are going to be selling their new book and visitors will be able to get a copy of it signed by both of the brothers, Henry and Tom Herbert.

A member of the local council, Neil Foster has commented, “This is an opportunity for the area to show off the incredible range of food it is capable of producing. It’s a wonderful opportunity for local people to get out and try new things.”
