In the world of butchers, The Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards are the equivalent of the Oscars. John Taylor, a butcher from the Midlands has recently been given the lifetime achievement award at the event which hosted more than 400 guests.
Ed Bedington is responsible for the organisation of the awards and he commented about Mr Taylor, “John has been a butcher since he was 12 years old when he started working on his father’s farm. He is the third generation from his family to work in the butcher’s trade and we are very pleased to be able to honour him with this award. Throughout his career he has been working for the rights of butchers who are independent and bringing higher food standards to the industry.”
The shops that he owns are part of a family business and are located in Earlsdon and Balsall Common, both of which are in Coventry. They are both renowned in the meat industry as being excellent stores which promotes the highest standards. Mr Taylor has also been involved in the Federation of Meat and Food Traders and was previously the president of this organisation.
