Herefordshire and Worcestershire clean up in Diamond food awards

Awards were handed out to six food and drink businesses from Herefordshire and two from Worcestershire at the Heart of England fine foods Diamond Awards. The Awards ceremony was held at The Hilton, Birmingham Metropole. The awards presented included ten for products, three for business, a hospitality and a retail award.

The hospitality and retail awards were new for this year and were both won by businesses from Herefordshire. The Mill Race from Ross on Wye won the Hospitality Diamond Award and Legges of Bromyard won the Retailer Diamond Award. The most coveted award of the night, the Special Diamond Award TASTE, went to Just Rachel Quality Desserts from Ledbury.

Just Rachel Quality Desserts had won the dairy category for its honeycomb ice cream and then competed against the winners of the other nine categories to win the Special Diamond Award. Rachel Hicks of Just Rachel Quality Desserts said that she was so happy especially as the quality of the competition was so high.

Other category winners included Cake Aspirations from Ross on Wye for the bakery and confectionery award, Kit’s Kitchen from Egdon in Worcestershire for condiments and preserves, Lodge Farm Kitchen from Ross on Wye for desserts, Tipsy Fruit Gins from Tenbury Wells for the alcoholic beverages section and Jus of Ledbury for the best soft drinks.
