One of the most important trade events of the year for the food and drink sector has recently taken place at the Birmingham NEC. This was the Food and Drink Expo and it has seen producers from West Wales attend the event.
This event is the largest food and drink event that takes place in the UK every year and hundreds of companies come to the event to show off their products. The manager of the show was Jack Halliday and he has commented, “This year we have seen numerous live events, fantastic guest speakers and over 500 exhibitors.”
The companies that have come from Wales have been exhibiting their products under the initiative by the Welsh government which is called True Taste. Some of the companies that attended the event have been offering Welsh cakes and traditional farmhouse recipes from Pembrokeshire.
Another Welsh company that bottles spring water has been showing off a new design for its 500 millilitre bottles. Flatbread company, Easibake Foods, unveiled a new selection of products which proved very popular with attendees at the event.
The Carmarthenshire Cheese Company were also at the event and they had a chance to showcase some of their award-winning cheeses. Some of the most notable cheeses at the event they were displaying were those called white mould cheeses.
The milk company, Trioni, which is based in Cenarth brought some of their award-winning flavoured milk products to the event. They were hoping to encourage industry professionals to purchase their beverages for sale. They are all made from organic milk and have recently introduced new sizing options of 200ml and one litre.
The flavours they were testing out at the event included chocolate and strawberry. The company clearly has its sights set on international expansion, as many of the products had foreign translations.
