New Devon Bear Festival looks set to be a huge success

The Kingswear Bears have just announced that they are to host a brand new teddy bear fair at the Newton Abbot Racecourse on Sunday 15th April 2012. The Devon Bear Festival is at a great location with easy access courtesy of the A38 and the A380, which is just off the M5, and the venue also offers plenty of free parking for all the visitors as well as catering facilities.

There is a big buzz within the bear community about this new fair and many exhibitors have already signed up to take part. There will literally be hundred of bears to chose from, and whether you prefer new, antique or artist designed bears you will find the perfect bear for you.

Teddy bear shops will be represented by Kingswear Bears of Kingswear, Dartmouth who along with Urchins of Boscastle will bring a fantastic selection, including Charlie Bears and Kaycee Bears. Apple Pie House will have a great range of collectables including bears from Steiff  & R John Wright.

Many bear artist/designers will bring along their wonderful handmade creations for you to adopt. Amongst these will be local bear artists such as Hidden Cove Bears of Newton Abbot & acclaimed artist Chloe Wilson of Dusty Attic Bears from Glastonbury.

The Festival will also welcome bear artists from further afield including Sue Quinn, Ann Made Bears, Teddycraft and Haven Bears who are very well known & supported in the West Country. If bear making is for you then you will marvel at all the fabulous Schulte fabrics, hand died mohair, bear making accessories and patterns that Bear Basics of Somerset and BSB Bear Supplies of Cornwall will bring along.

Christopher’s Chairs will be in attendance with a fantastic array of hand made chairs for bears and Teddy Bear Bling of Sheffield will bring some exquisite teddy bear design jewellery.

The Devon Bear Festival will feature a prize draw, which will be drawn at 1pm.The three prizes will be £50, £20 & £10 vouchers from the Festival organisers to use at any one of the stalls exhibiting on the day. There will also be a stallholders’ competition to design a bear around the theme “A Day at the Races” & the winner will be voted by visitors to the fair.

The 2012 Devon Bear Festival will be open to visitors from 10.30 until 15.30 on Sunday 15 April 2012.
