The Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LTTB) has published it largest Lancashire Food & Drink Guide which will be offered to the public for free via a request from the LTTB’s website (www.visitlancashire.com) and the Visitor Information Centres.
The guide features a collection of reviews on 147 accredited restaurants and cafes as well as offering recommendations from Michelin, Seafish Frier Quality Award, and the AA. Taste Lancashire looks over the service, welcome, food standard, and local procedure to assign its ratings since it was first launched in 2007 by the LTB and is assessed by QIT or Quality in Tourism.
After assessment, businesses that receive high marks are awarded the Taste Lancashire Highest Quality Assured marquee or the Taste Lancashire Quality Assured marque. This year, the 2010 guide offers the highest proportion of top assured businesses with a 33% increase over last year.
Tourist board member Barbara Howorth, stated that over the last three years the scheme has helped promote the many quality eating places that are located in Lancashire and the county’s commitment to the sustainability and quality of all local producers. Howorth added that the strength of the county’s food and drink is coupled with warm the warm welcome that business owners provide those who visit the region.
Accredited businesses by Taste Lancashire will receive their own awards at the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourism Awards which will take place on June 9th hosted by wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel.
Finalists this year for the awards include Greens Bistro, Bashall Barn, Burrow, The Highwayman, Cobble Hey Farm, Homestead Farm, St. Anne’s on Sea, and Claughton on Brock.
