The race for the top food supplier in the Sussex region is heating up. There has been a release of the top suppliers for the much coveted titles of best food supplier, producer and farm shop in Sussex. The results are to be announced on January 31 and this implies that the nominees are upping the ante.
Amongst the nominees in the Best Eating Experience category is last year’s winner Cat Inn, a West Hoathly pub. The pub is changing things this year by revamping the wine and food menu as well as giving the place a new look. Another feather to head chef Max Leonard and landlord Andrew Russel’s hats would definitely be a positive start to the year.
High Weald Dairy, a nominee in the Producer category is no novice to the awards. The family run High Weald Dairy was last year’s winner and comes into the competition after bagging four awards at the Cheese Awards. One would think that another award to the already packed mantle would go unnoticed but local recognition goes on top of their list.
The farm shop awardees are recovering from a busy Christmas that always has record sales.
Amongst the nominees is Veasey & Sons Fishmongers. One does wonder how a firm selling fish makes any money during Christmas, well, this fishery is that good. Bumping out the turkey from tables during the holiday season, this fishmonger has built itself quite the reputation in Forest Row.
There is of course a reason for all the craze around this supplier – all the stock is caught locally and guaranteed fresh rather than the frozen stuff you find.
